Charles and Marion Walker moved into the farm house at 21973 Great Cove Road in 1954, when Charles joined his Farther-in-law, Harold Rotz in farming.

In more recent times, the farm was the home of the Rotz Meats Market until 2003 when the Walkers retired.  The meat business was started by Harold and Beulah at their farm just a mile to the north.  The business was best known for their dry cured country hams and smoked sausage, but all kinds of pork products were sold from tenderloin to “cracklins.”  But the pork was just the end result.  The farm was unique in that it grew the seed that was used to grow the corn, which was used to feed the hogs that were ultimately processed into those hams.  Oh, yes, and strawberries and sweet corm were also popular summer time crops.

The Pig Tails Block on the barn suggests intertwined pig tails.
